Abstract
Lipomatous masses of the thyroid gland are rare lesions containing fat and thyroid tissue. They are usually focal benign encapsulated masses and represent biologically inactive neoplasms of the thyroid gland like thyrolipomas or adenolipomas. We report a rare case of diffuse lipomatous infiltration of the entire thyroid gland diagnosed on multidetector computed tomography in a 50-year-old female with complaints of painless gradual swelling in the lower neck. In this case report we propose to review existing medical literature of fat-containing thyroid lesions and discuss the case-specific imaging findings in our patient.
