Abstract

A theoretical investigation is described into the impact of the degree of spatial coherence and the light spectrum on a moiré pattern appearing for a set of two binary diffraction gratings. A diffractional model of the optoelectronic transducer is presented by means of mathematical formulae. The model was utilized for the analysis of the impact of various parameters that were relevant mainly to the beam emitted by the transducer illuminator. The analysis was performed in order to obtain the optimal accuracy characteristics. The angular dimension of the light source was also considered with regard to its impact on the intensity distribution of the self-images and the Fresnel images obtained for the diffraction binary grating.
