Abstract
It is argued on general grounds that the structure factor for diffraction from mixed magnets is the sum of two terms which, close to magnetic Bragg positions, approximate to a lorentzian and a squared lorentzian. The origin of the latter is the response of the sample to magnetic dilution. The argument is illustrated with a calculation of the structure factor for a weakly diluted Heisenberg antiferromagnet.
