Abstract

An atomic beam apparatus has been built with a pulsed sputtering source for beam production, time-of-flight energy analysis, and a hot-wire detector. Digital methods provide for fast comparison of signals under different conditions. Measurements of differential elastic cross sections for K-Xe and CH4 are shown. Also a method is given for the determination of the parameters of the intermolecular repulsion from measured differential cross sections.
