Abstract
This paper examines the differences between three groups of women in terms of Family of Origin Health (FOH), Current Family of Origin Differentiation (CFOD), and Spousal Differentiation (SpD). Responses from 60 participants were analyzed: 24 were women in therapy, 16 were women married to men in therapy, and 20 were women who were neither in therapy themselves nor married to men in therapy. Multivariate Analysis of Variance indicated that the groups were different: female clients and nonclinical women were significantly different on all three variables; clients were different from both spouses and nonclinical women in terms of SpD; nonclinical women were different from both clients and spouses in terms of FOH and CFOD. Theoretical implications and suggestions for research are discussed.
