Abstract
Impedance design is an important part of PCB reliability design, and good impedance matching plays an important role in signal integrity. In recent years, with the development and production of rigid flexible boards, the differential impedance controlling and matching is being concerned particularly by PCB engineers. Because of the complexity of design and production of rigid flexible boards, there are many factors which affect the differential impedance, such as CVL thickness, grid space, length of flexible area, EMI shielding film and so on. Therefore, impedance controlling is not an easy thing for engineers who design rigid flexible boards. This study is aiming at differential impedance of rigid flexible boards, and lists the main factors which affect differential impedance. In this article, we mainly study line width, line space, grid space, CVL thickness, PI thickness, length of flexible area and EMI shielding film, to find how these factors affect the differential impedance. In view of these factors, we use the statistical software to get impedance regression equation. With applying the regression equation to the design of PCB before producing, we can control the impedance more easily.
