Abstract

Objective To verify and analyze the expression of microRNA-218 in hormone-dependent and hormone-independent prostate cancer cell lines. Methods Specific SYBR Green quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) was used to detect the relative expression of microRNA-218 in hormone-dependent prostate cancer LNCaP cell line and hormone-independent prostate cancer C4-2, PC-3 and DU-145 cell lines, and the differences were verified and analyzed. Results The expression of MicroRNA-218 was not different in C4-type, PC-3 and DU-145 three hormone-independent prostate cancer cell lines(P>0.05), but was significantly higher than that in hormone-dependent prostate cancer cell line LNCaP(P<0.05). Conclusions MicroRNA-218 is involved in the progression from steroid-dependent to hormone-independent prostate cancer and is expected to become a biomarker for predicting the progression of prostate cancer.
