Abstract
Trigger thumb is the most common hand deformity in young children. The differential diagnoses of trigger thumb are thumb-in-palm deformity, hyperextension deformity of the metacarpophalangeal joint, thumb hypoplasia and congenital stiffness of the interphalangeal joint. The knowledge of the typical clinical signs of these different diseases enables the surgeon to make the correct diagnosis, leading to the right treatment.
