Abstract

A model based on Bethe's theory for inelastic scattering of fast charged particles is used to extrapolate single differential cross sections (SDCS) for ionization of helium, neon, and argon by protons with energy between 0.3 and 1.5 MeV to higher ion energies. Results predicted by the model show good agreement with measured total and SDCS and with ab initio calculations using the first Born approximation.
