Abstract

The experience of perimenopause is complex and varies from female to female. For some, the experience is benign, and changes feel subtle. For others, perimenopause is a time of confusion and frustration with disruptive physical and psychological symptoms. Either way, with the right guidance and support, the transition to postmenopause can be an enriching experience with great personal growth and acceptance. Nurse practitioners can foster a positive process by approaching a perimenopausal female’s care from a holistic, individualized perspective.
