Abstract

CoFe2O4–BaTiO3 composite thick films were prepared using a combined method of sol–gel and electrophoretic deposition. Phase compositions and microstructures of the films were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopic techniques, respectively. The XRD results indicated that the films consisted of both spinel CoFe2O4 and BaTiO3 perovskite phase. The leakage current density of the films is in the order of about 10−8 A/cm2 at zero electric field. Polarization– electric field (P–E) hysteresis loops and magnetization–magnetic field hysteresis loops of the thick films were investigated. At room temperature, the composite thick films show good ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties.
