Abstract

Dielectric properties of a nanograin barium titanate (BaTiO3) thick film were investigated in terms of grain size effects. Stress- and strain-free 10 μm-thick film with a grain size of 60 nm was prepared as a free-standing film at air/liquid interface by sol-gel method using a highly concentrated alkoxides precursor solution. Electrical measurements indicated clear transition temperature (Tc) at 119°C, Curie-Weiss behavior and polarization reversal hysteresis characteristics at above Tc. This unusual polarization reversal behavior above Tc was investigated by temperature and frequency dependence of the hysteresis in the range of 1 – 1000 Hz and time dependence of dielectric absorption and leakage currents.
