Abstract

Dielectric and ferroelectric properties of multiferroic (1–x)BiFeO3-xBi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BFO-xBNT) (x = 0-0.8) solid solution synthesized by sol-gel route were investigated. XRD patterns revealed that BFO-xBNT is an infinite solid solution with rhombohedral stricture. Lattice parameter and cell volume of the solid solution decrease with the increase of amount of BNT. A possible structure distortion could happen at x = 0.40. BNT makes an influence on grain morphologies and electrical properties. Dielectric permittivity of the solid solution shows dramatic change with the increase in BNT content. Ferroelectric property of BFO is enhanced by introduction of BNT although the Pr value is very small.
