Abstract

past (dachtV, nannte), some have other endings in the present (kann), some have umlaut in the general subjunctive (br;chte, woitte, hitte), and some have consonant changes (brachte, h~tte). Irregular strong verbs would be those with past participles in -en, that change consonants in the simple past (zogen, schnitten, sagen), or introduce new consonants in the simple past (stand, tat), or have endings other than -6 in the simple past (wurde, mahite), or have a vowel in the general subjunctive that is not derivable from the simple past by umlauting(stirbe instead of *starbe), or have a different ending in the special subjunctive (sei instead of *seie).
