Abstract
The story ,Die Lehre der Sainte-Victoire‘ by Peter Handke was published in 1980 as part of the tetralogy ,Langsame Heimkehr‘. It is a metanarrative treatise and thus represents the narrative high point in terms of an immediate discussion about poetological perspectives. This work examines the positioning of authorship in ,Die Lehre der Sainte-Victoire‘. This is analyzed on the basis of the narrative strategy used at the level of the plot and at the level of the narrative discourse in order to finally elaborate the basic poetological prerequisites that also remain influential in further works.
