Abstract
Since January 1st, 2009, the Protestant Church of the formerly Prussian Province of Saxonia and the Lutheran Church of Thuringia, both members of the .Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland (Protestant Church in the Federation of the formerly established Protestant Churches), are united to form the Protestant Church in Middle Germany, The paper gives an account of the genesis of this merger, especially of its legal aspects.
