Abstract

The Bees of the Genus Andrena Fabricius (Hymenoptera, Apidae) from Egypt and Adjacent AreasTo provide a basis for further investigations on occurrence, distribution, and biology of wild bees of the genus Andrena FABRICIUS, 1775 in Egypt, nearly 2150 specimens collected by the author or stored in various collections have been examined. Furthermore, all literary statements concerning Andrena species from Egypt, Libya, the Sudan, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia have been analysed critically. In this study, a total of 196 species and subspecies, respectively, could be found out to occur in that area. A list of these taxa is given, including the data known for the individual species (or subspecies) with regard to its general distribution, occurrence in Egypt and in the adjacent regions, ecology, and seasonal activity. Remarks on the taxonomic status of some species are added.
