Abstract

Upon joining the Northwestern University cheerleading team, a female student‐athlete signed an agreement stating she would be present when coaching staff required her to attend an event. The cheerleader claimed the head coach ordered all female cheerleaders to attend fundraisers and alumni events in cheer uniforms that left most of their bodies exposed. The coach allegedly told cheerleaders they should prioritize (1) keeping fans and alumni happy and (2) appearing as fun girls even if they were touched inappropriately.
