Abstract
The plaintiff was a Black Lebanese citizen who sued American University for discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, and national origin. Specifically, the plaintiff claimed the university discriminated against him when it hired a white candidate — instead of the plaintiff — for the position of head coach of its men's soccer team. The plaintiff claimed the white candidate had significantly inferior qualifications to his own.
