Abstract

On the basis of the ethnographic work done in a town in La Mancha, on the occasion of its main festivity, La Borrica of Torrenueva, some approaches have arisen that have been tried to be explained through anthropological analysis. The data obtained, mainly through ethnographic interviews, have been observed, examined and shredded, so their analysis may provide understanding of what this festivity means for the citizens of this town. It is important to understand the scope of these representations in a town that, like so many others, presents a successive, albeit slow, depopulation. Therefore, it is a matter of providing a small contribution to prevent the traditions of small Spanish towns from being lost. This is the only way to understand their idiosyncrasy, and their inhabitants will be able to maintain their particular identity given the uniqueness of elements that, from generation to generation are being transmitted in order to give continuity to these special festivities in these zones.
