Abstract

Dianne L. Chambless, professor emerita of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, died on July 14, 2023. Dianne received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Temple University in 1979. She then served on the faculties of the University of Georgia, American University, and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill before going to the University of Pennsylvania for the final 17 years of her career. Dianne was a highly respected anxiety researcher, an award winning mentor, a leading advocate for the importance of basing clinical care on the best available research evidence, and a champion of women in academia.
