Abstract

The absence of public policies directed to the conservation, preservation and restoration of Water Resources in Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ, motivated this study, whose goal was to assess the environmental conditions of eight tableland lagoons, namely da Onca, do Coqueiro, Lameiro, Limpa, do Jacu, do Cantagalo, das Pedras and Maria do Pilar Lagoon, located in the northern region of the Brazilian State of Rio de Janeiro. Observations, photographs, bibliography and geoprocessing techniques were used. It was observed that the lagoons visited require intervention and/or proposals for demarcation, protection and restoration, since they had their natural dynamics altered by anthropic activities.
