Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnosis and differential diagnostic value of perfusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging for prostate cancer(PCa)and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).Methods Fifty-three cases were divided into 3 groups:group 1 including 23 cases of PCa,group 2 including 22 cases of BPH,and 8 healthy men enrolled in group 3 as normal control. The differences of perfusion related parameters(including rNEI,rMTE and rMSD)among the 3 groups were studied and analyzed. Results In peripheral zone, the value of rNEI in PCa patients was higher than that in BPH patients(t=11.64,P<0.001)and control healthy men(t=11.79,P<0.001).The value of rMTE of PCa patients was lower than that in BPH patients(t=3.50,P=0.002)and control(t=3.78,P=0.001).In central zone, the value of rNEI in PCa patients was higher than that in BPH patients(t=6.99,P<0.001)and eontrol(t:10.32,P<0.001).Aceording to ROC,therNEI had the best differential diagnostic value. The optimal threshold was 6.44 with sensitivity of 91.3%and specificity of 81.8%for the PCa differentiation with BPH.Conclusion rNEI is an effectire parameter to differentiate PCa from BPH. Key words: Magnetic resonance imaging; Perfusion weighted imaging; Prostatic carcinoma; Benign prostatic hyperplasia
