Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common bacterial infection managed in general practice. Following the introduction of extended nurse prescribing, it is now possible for suitably qualified nurses to assess, manage and treat uncomplicated UTIs in primary care without the need for a GP consultation.
