Abstract
Automation in every industry is the need of hour. Almost all modern industries use Medium Voltage Induction Motors to achieve this. Each and every industry move towards zero error with good quality products. Simple design, ease in control, less maintenance and remote operations are some of the excellent features of induction motors. A fault in an induction motor fails the mission of the industry such as zero error and quality product. This paper provides a technique for consistent monitoring of medium voltage induction motor in an industry. This paper analyses the performance of Medium Voltage Squirrel Cage Induction Motors supplied with Medium Voltage under healthy condition as well as under stator faults and failures. Motor Stator Current Envelope Analysis (MSCEA) is proposed in this paper to understand the performance of the motor with balance and imbalance in source voltage, Stator faults resulting in the opening or shorting of the stator phase winding. This proposed method discussed in this paper and the results achieved are the simplest and cost effective method. MATLAB/ Simulink is used to simulate the entire system to understand and analyze the performance.
