Abstract

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of pituitary micro adenoma. Methods The clinical data of 80 patients with pituitary micro adenoma treated by transsphenoidal microsurgery were analyzed retrospectively. The postoperative cure rate and the incidence rate of complication were calculated. Results The follow-up time were (13.0±3.2) months, tumor remnants were seen in 1 patient with PRL, no case relapsed. Postoperative diabetes insipidus occurred in 19 cases, among which 15 cases recovered 1 week after operation, 3 cases recovered 1 month after operation, and 1 case recovered 7 months after operation. Nine cases suffered from adrenal hypofunction after operation, and they returned to normal within 6 months. Among the 15 cases of ACTH adenoma, 13 cases (86.7%) of plasma cortisol within 72 h after operation to 2 μg/dl, and achieved endocrinology cure. During the follow-up period, the symptoms of amenorrhea, lactation, headache, obesity, sexual dysfunction and other symptoms were significantly improved. Conclusions Transsphenoidal microsurgery is a safe and effective method in the treatment of pituitary micro adenoma. Key words: Pituitary micro adenoma; Diagnosis; Treatment
