Abstract
Diagnostic systems provide a common language for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychopathology across the life span. These systems must be revised to align with current evidence and promote clinical utility. Recently, the World Health Organization’s ICD, the international standard for diagnostic classification, has undergone a decade-long revision process involving global, multilingual, and multidisciplinary research to guide, evaluate, and refine revisions. Relative to ICD-10 and/or DSM-5, new developments in ICD-11 reflect important changes to conditions affecting youth (eg, disruptive behavior, mood, anxiety, and stress-related disorders).
