Abstract

Vitreous hemorrhage secondary to proliferative diabetic retinopathy is one of the important causes of severe vision loss in diabetic patients. Although laser photocoagulation therapy is still the gold standard treatment for proliferative diabetic retinopathy, anti-VEGF injections can also be used as adjunctive therapy in preparation for surgery. For vitreous hemorrhages and fibrous tissue proliferation that do not resolve spontaneously, pars plana vitrectomy and endolaser treatment are required. With the developing surgical technique and fast recovery time, it is possible to recommend surgical intervention without waiting for a long time.
