Abstract

The combination of diabetes mellitus and primary hypothyroidism is not as rare as generally believed. Nine hypothyroid patients were found among 530 diabetics, a prevalence of 1.7 per cent. In 5 patients the diabetes occurred first. The subsequent development of hypothyroidism did not appreciably change the course of the diabetes.
