Abstract
In order to solve the serious interference problem due to the overlapping subcarriers of USB (upper side band) and LSB (lower side band) spectrums in the conventional DFT-s-SSB-OFDM (discrete Fourier transform spreading single side band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) system, in this paper, we propose an novel DFT-s-SSB OFDM using an improved DFT spreading SSB (discrete Fourier transform spreading single sideband) selection method and the convolutional coding can be combined to alleviate the BER (bit error rate) performance degradation problem. So, the spectrum efficiency may be increased than the conventional DFT-s-SSB OFDM system and the BER (bit error rate) performance can be improved as well. In the proposed DFT-s-SSB OFDM system, the DFT spreading SSB selection technique is improved so that the USB (upper sideband) component can be selected, and the LSB and USB can be simultaneously transmitted by the suggested SSB selection method. Even though in this suggested method there is a slight loss of data rate due to convolutional coding and DFT Spreading SSB improvement, the proposed system can improve spectral efficiency by the proposed SSB selection method and can improve the BER performance by convolutional coding combination. In conclusion, we can increase the communication capacity and the frequency resource utilization factor using the proposed system.
