Abstract

The article carries out a review of the literature in the field of research competence and a proposal to re­frame the development by means of the geographical sketch. The study is structured in two directions that outline the direction of the training process of the research competence components. The first part describes the constitu­tive elements of the targeted competence, in a constructivist approach, according to the paradigm of triple logic and competence in action. The second part, fasten the particularities of the geographical sketch as a pedagogical application, by highlighting the mechanisms through which the development of research/investigation competence is produced, respecting the didactic principles of the Geography discipline. The opinions of teachers and students interviewed on the use of the geographical sketch are also highlighted. The supporting material exemplifies the contextuality of the sketch technique in carrying out a geographical investigation.
