Abstract

Despite the 1995 Food and Drug Administration warning of over-the-counter (OTC) dextromethorphan (DM) abuse,1 the incidence of related problems continues to increase. DM abuse was first recognized in the 1960s. Its incidence has increased dramatically since the late 1990s.2
