Abstract
Describes the Remolino formation, a sequence of quartzites and fossiliferous shales and sandy limestones containing a fauna of probable lower middle Devonian age exposed in the Caparo river valley in the Andes of Merida, southwest Venezuela. The Remolino beds may be partial stratigraphic equivalents of Devonian strata in the Cachiri river region of northwest Venezuela and the La Floresta region in the Colombian Andes.
