Abstract

Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets have made a significant impact on the manufacturers and users of permanent magnets. The magnetically isotropic powdered materials manufactured by the rapid solidification process can be made into bonded magnets by a variety of techniques. Alternatively, the powdered materials can be consolidated by hot deformation techniques to produce high energy product anisotropic magnets. The developments concerning isotropic and anisotropic powders and anisotropic magnets are discussed.
