Abstract

The research on cryogenic processing of cutting tools has led to the implementation of the treatment in industrial applications.The application of cryogenic to age hardenablealuminium alloy in a proper sequence is a complex issue as they are sensitive to temperature and time due to ‘aging’, this work comprises cryogenic treatment of 7075 aluminium alloy, with effect of soaking period on this alloy was assessed in term of surface quality for hardness and surface roughness using design of experiments by Taguchi and optimization by gray relational analysis. The work concludes by identifying the effect of cryogenic processing and optimizing the treatment parameters for getting best combination of hardness and surface roughness after the processing.
