Abstract

The presented study addresses the issue of grip strength and its development in the specific context of grappling sports. Within the research investigation, we compared the state of strength abilities in judo athletes aged U12-U16 before and after a targeted movement intervention focused on improving grip strength. The participants were tested using a designed test battery and were exposed to a targeted movement intervention stimulating the development of strength abilities crucial for success in this sport over a period of 4 months. After completing the movement intervention, there was an average improvement in all tested indicators among the group of boys. Grip strength significantly improved, especially in the non-dominant upper limb.
