Abstract

The present study was aimed to develop a scale of Principle of Suitability for Children (PSCS). Research has been carried out on 245 teachers, (126 (52%) of them are working in general education classes and 119 (48%) of them are working in kindergarten classes), from two different branches. The opinions of the teachers with regard to the principle of suitability for children have been evaluated by using PSCS. In order to test the factor structure of PSCS, explanatory factor analyses were conducted. As a result of this factor analysis, it was determined that PSCS consists of 35 items under two independent factors named as Internal Structural Features (17 items) and Formal Structural Features (18 items). Lastly, to examine the reliability of PSCS, the inner- consistency of whole scale and its sub factors, split-half and test re-test reliability scores were calculated and observed to have an adequate level.
