Abstract

AbstractWith the aid of design parameters and application of thermodynamic laws and relationships, in general theoretical performance analysis of gas turbines can be implemented. However, available design point parameters are limited, and this has made analysis of gas turbine difficult. Moreover, Manufacturer of gas turbines usually provide certain essential information for general understanding due to business concern. Thus, the aim of this study is to develop a model and program for prediction of unknown performance parameters of a single shaft gas turbine at the design point. In this study, gas turbine components have been modelled and a program was developed in engineering equation solver. A graphical user interface is also developed so that the program is user friendly. To predict the unknown parameters manufacturers’ available parameters from catalogue namely, pressure ratio, cycle efficiency, exhaust gas flow, exhaust gas temperature, and power output are used as input. Single shaft gas turbine was simulated with certain realistic assumptions. Results of the analysis were compared with previous work that was done in MATHCAD Program and showed good agreement.
