Abstract

In the modern world, the armed forces of technologically developed countries are active consumers of satellite information, and in some cases critically depend on it. This primarily concerns Russia and the United States, which have both military satellite constellations for various purposes (in particular, satellite missile attack warning systems), and make specialized purchases from commercial owners and operators of satellite systems in the interests of their military departments. This article proposes to consider the American military satellite communication systems and missile attack warning systems (MAWS), the reasons and process of their modernization, which took place in 2018-2023, as well as long-term development plans.
