Abstract

Polypropylene (PP) has excellent heat resistant and is an environmental friendly insulation material that can be recycled comparing to cross-linked polyethylene. In Europe, PP insulated high-voltage class cables were commercialised as following the medium-voltage (MV) class. Therefore, authors developed the PP insulated cables and performed thermal, physical, and electrical tests. The most important thing will be to verify the design life of developed cables. The authors developed the long-term reliability evaluation method using frequency acceleration and established a draft standard for PP insulated MV cable.
