Abstract

The article reveals the issues of the development of large-span structures in the architecture of the mid-19th and early 20th centuries. Structural systems used in the construction of these structures are considered and analyzed on the example of the unique objects of the first world exhibitions, as well as large shopping passages. This confirms that the use of large-span structures affects the rapid development of the architecture of unique buildings and structures.
