Abstract

To achieve standards related to biotechnology systems in the 2015 revised Technology and Home-economics subject curriculum, this study has developed an instruction process plan for the Exhibition Trial Activity program. This study was developed according to the stages of preparation, development, and improvement. In the preparation stage, we analyzed the achievement standards related to biotechnology systems in the 2015 revised middle school curriculum and set detailed objectives according to achievement standards. In the development stage, we developed a model for the Exhibition Trial Activity program and then developed the Exhibition Trial Activity . In the improvement stage, the content validity was reviewed by the expert group and supplemented, and applicability was confirmed through pilot test and field test. Based on this, we completed the Exhibition Trial Activity program to achieve the standards of Biotechnology Systems for Technology and Home-economics subject in the 2015 revised middle school curriculum. The Exhibition Trial Activity program was composed of 10 sessions; teaching and learning activities were carried out according to understanding of problems, research and development, realization, and evaluation of ideas. Students choose their own sub-topics and engage them through individual and small group learning. Based on the learning contents, students will meet the achievement standards related to biotechnology systems by operating exhibition booths for sub-themes and watching another booths. This program extends the activities of the exhibition, which was limited to corporate education, museum education, and exhibitions of student work to whole class activities. It is expected that this program will be utilized in the Technology world and Family life fields in the Technology and Home-economics‘ curriculum, as well as in achievement standards related to Bio-Technology, because student-centered learning activities are actively promoted.
