Abstract

Abstract Sixty-seven percent of the attacks by black turpentine beetles, Dendroctonus terebrans (Oliv.), and 86 percent of the attacks by Ips beetles (Ips spp.) were successful in Paraquat-treated slash pine for artificial lightwood induction. Unwounded check trees interspersed with the Paraquat-treated trees were not attacked by emerging adults. Wounded check trees were lightly attacked.
