Development of an interactive tool for learning by problem solving in clinical pharmacy

Abstract

Learning through problem solving is a main line in clinical pharmacy training. The objective of this work is to develop, under the auspices of the French College of Clinical Pharmacy Teachers (ANEPC), an interactive tool for analysis and validation of pharmaceutical clinical cases. The structure of the website facilitates online validation and posting of clinical cases within the framework proposed by the ANEPC and offers users the opportunity to compare their pharmaceutical analysis with the author's case. KFarma is a free website freely available since June 2007 for any pharmacist or pharmacy student at www.anepc.org\Kfarma . After creating an account, users can post a case, consult and validate the cases online and add comments in a forum for each case. The development of new teaching tools, based on analysis of clinical cases, is essential to the teaching of clinical pharmacy. This web 2.0 tool, Kfarma, meets this requirement by initiating interactivity among users, learners and tutors. The use of the site represents a significant potential for training in clinical pharmacy practice based on the exchange of experiences of those from French-speaking countries and perhaps not in too distant future, from English-speaking countries. L’apprentissage par résolution de problèmes constitue un axe central de la formation en pharmacie clinique. L’objectif de ce travail est de développer, sous l’égide de l’Association nationale des enseignants de pharmacie clinique (ANEPC), un outil interactif d’analyse et de validation pharmaceutique de cas cliniques. La structure du site Internet permet la mise en ligne et la validation de cas cliniques selon la trame proposée par l’ANEPC et offre aux utilisateurs la possibilité de confronter leur analyse pharmaceutique à celle de l’auteur du cas. KFarma est un site Internet gratuit accessible librement depuis juin 2007 pour tout pharmacien ou étudiant en pharmacie à l’adresse www.anepc.org\Kfarma . Après création d’un compte, l’utilisateur peut déposer un cas, consulter et valider les cas en ligne et ajouter des commentaires dans un forum pour chaque cas. L’élaboration de nouveaux outils pédagogiques, basés sur l’analyse de cas cliniques, est indispensable à l’enseignement de la pharmacie clinique. L’outil Kfarma répond à cette exigence en mettant au premier plan l’interactivité entre utilisateurs, apprenants et tuteurs. L’utilisation du site à l’échelle de la francophonie représente un potentiel important pour la formation par la pratique en pharmacie clinique basée sur les échanges d’expériences.
