Abstract
Higher heating value (HHV) is one of the important parameter in performance modeling of thermal systems. The HHV of liquid fuels is determined experimentally, which is time consuming and expensive. From literature survey it is observed that the HHV of few fuel oils is a function of viscosity. The authors have deduced a correlation of HHV and viscosity of diesel fuel. This paper discusses development of equipment for estimation of HHV of diesel using the deduced correlation. The estimated HHV of samples under study are in good agreement with the HHV determined using conventional laboratory method. The developed equipment can be use to as an equipment for estimation of HHV of diesel fuel.
