Abstract

We demonstrated a primary yellow fiber laser whose fiber core was made from Dy3+-doped waterproof fluoro-aluminate glass (Dy3+:WPFG) that was excited by a blue LD at 450 nm. The Dy3+:WPFG fiber laser achieved a maximum output power of 23.8 mW with a slope efficiency of 40.5%. Its key technology is a newly developed single-mode, double-clad-structured fiber made from Dy3+:WPFG, and the V-number was evaluated to be 2.36 (< 2.405 single-mode condition). This yellow fiber laser can be applied to the medical treatment of such cutaneous vascular lesions as telangiectasia and port-wine nevi, laser processing, and display technology with further power enhancement.
