Abstract

A planar multiplier circuit for millimeter-wave frequency multipliers has been designed and tested. The multiplier circuit is executed on a polyamide substrate and established in a split waveguide block having input and output waveguides. All the elements, including coplanar slotline transitions, microstrip lines, and matching slotline stabs, are photolithographically fabricated. Calculation of microstrip and slotline components of the multiplier circuit is executed with the software Microwave Office 2000. To test the planar design of the multiplier, the 55/110 GHz doubler use planar Schottky-barrier diode was fabricated and tested. The experimental model of the doubler provides an input bandwidth of 47-58 GHz and an output bandwidth of 94-116 GHz. At an input power of 20 mW, the maximum output power is about 0.6 mW.
