Abstract

A large plasma generator was developed for a joint experiment at NBI test stand in CADARACHE. This is a semi-cylindrical magnetic multipole plasma generator with the extractable area of 8 cm × 120 cm. Beam extraction from central 12cm 2 × 27cm region showed the proton ratio of 91% at the H + extraction current density of 185 mA/cm 2 . The plasma uniformity of ± 9% was obtained by the probe measurement over the convex area of 8cm × 100cm. The latest results on negative ion beam development are briefly mentioned.
