Abstract

In the recent years, there are many studies about wind turbine dynamic behaviors and the impact of wind power integration on the power system. However, the WT dynamic behaviors were usually simplified while studying the influence on the power system. That is, the dynamic performance was studied with a fairly simple model of the power system because many research works did not consider the modeling for the whole wind turbine system. Since there are interactions between the mechanical and electrical systems, the complete model should consist of mechanical and electrical parts. Therefore, this study highlights that a complete wind turbine modelling should consider the characteristics on the aerodynamic of blade, mechanical dynamic, pitch and yaw control dynamic, and generator dynamic. Generally, the mechanism dynamic mechanism of a wind turbine is simulated by ADAMS; aerodynamic of blade is simulated by FAST; the model of the generator, yaw control system and pitch control system is made by means of MATLAB/Simulink.
