Abstract

Development of a Compact, Cost Effective, and Energy Efficient Biofilm Reactor for Wastewater Treatment and Effluent ReuseThe CFIC® (Continuous Flow Intermittent Cleaning) biofilm reactor has been developed. It contains highly packed biofilm carriers to a degree that little movement of the carriers occurs in the reactor during normal operation. The process has continuous inflow to the bioreactor and intermittent cleaning, which removes excess biomass from the biofilm carriers. A large void volume maximizes the...Author(s)Bjorn RustenPascale StangEva RogneJon SiljudalenLaura MarcoliniSourceProceedings of the Water Environment FederationSubjectSession 79: Moving Fixed Film Design and Operating ParametersDocument typeConference PaperPublisherWater Environment FederationPrint publication date Jan, 2011ISSN1938-6478SICI1938-6478(20110101)2011:11L.5222;1-DOI10.2175/193864711802765660Volume / Issue2011 / 11Content sourceWEFTECFirst / last page(s)5222 - 5235Copyright2011Word count167Subject keywordsBiofilmCFIC®MBBRorganic matterwastewater treatment
